The Nissan Altima is an excellent option in the competitive mid-size sedan class, delivering solid, practical, and efficient transportation. However, the Altima loses some appeal with an unremarkable powertrain and a continuously variable automatic transmission. The Nissan maintains a solid position in the class, offering a spacious and comfortable cabin, solid fuel economy ratings, and a solid selection of standard safety features. For 2025, Nissan has opted to carryover the lineup without many notable changes, except a few changes in trim levels. The biggest update is the discontinuation of the SR VC-Turbo trim level and the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that powered it. To soften the blow, Nissan has expanded the lineup with a new Special Edition model, which provides several styling and tech upgrades to the SV trim level. Additionally, Nissan has added a maintenance package, which provides up to three oil changes for two years or 24,000 miles. The Nissan Altima remains a solid option in the class, offering well rounded appeal and good value.
The Nissan Altima is one of the more attractive options in the class, offering a sporty design with handsome styling. Additionally, the new Special Edition models offer a good degree of curb appeal, tweaking the Altima’s exterior design with some sportier elements. However, the Special Edition models lose some appeal with the discontinuation of the VC-Turbo powertrain. While the Altima doesn’t quite live up to the sporty performance its design inspires, it offers a good degree of curb appeal. The interior of the Altima offers a relatively basic design, with a straightforward and intuitive dashboard layout and well-placed controls. The interior is nicely outfitted, but the material quality varies with trim selection. The higher trim levels offer niceties such as leatherette or genuine leather upholstery with more premium materials dispersed throughout the cabin. However, the interior of the Altima also attempts to provide some sport-oriented features and design choices, which are a bit unnecessary given the performance level provided. The Nissan comes well-equipped with standard features, offer several desirable driver-assistance features as standard.
The ride quality of the Altima is relatively comfortable while providing sporty driving dynamics. The Altima is stable through twists and turns, providing a sure-footed driving demeanor. However, the steering is light and can be vague, undermining the sporty handling of the sedan. Additionally, rivals such as the Honda Accord provide better handling with more potent powertrain available. The Altima is also offered with 19-inch wheels, which improves handling dynamics slightly but at the cost of some comfort and noise. Additionally, the SR trims offer a sportier suspension by utilizing a limited-slip differential with intelligent trace control. The combination of the 19-inch wheels and the SR trim’s suspension improvements offer a much more athletic driving demeanor. However, with the discontinuation of the optional turbo-four, the Altima loses much of its appeal for sporty performance and is best considered a more family-focused sedan compared to rivals.
The Altima is offered with a single powertrain, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. The Altima pairs the four-cylinder with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive as the standard arrangement. Additionally, all-wheel drive is available on all but the base “S” trim-level. The four-cylinder is reasonably powerful offering a 0-60 mph time of about 7.6 seconds. However, the Nissan falls a few tenths of a second short behind the base powertrain of the Honda Accord. Additionally, the CVT reduces the appeal of paddle shifters on equipped trims, which does an unremarkable of simulating conventional gear shifts. Additionally, the four-cylinder can make some unruly engine noises when pressed to the limit. However, the Nissan doesn’t distinguish itself as the kind of car that should be pushing that hard. When equipped with front-wheel drive, the Altima offers an EPA-estimated 27 mph in the city and 39 mpg on the highway. With all-wheel drive, those estimates drop to 26 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.

Zero down payment doesn’t mean $0 due at signing. A down payment simply refers to the amount paid upfront to reduce the amount financed over the course of a lease. Even with a $0 down payment lease, there are still sales taxes fees and Bank/DMV fees to pay before you can drive off in your new car. These fee’s often range anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 depending on the vehicles. Please refer to our FAQ’s Page for more information or give us a call at 631-204-3329
